Demspey receives postseason accolades

Muskingum men's basketball junior guard Marcus Dempsey has been named D3hoops.com First-Team Great Lakes All-Region and Division III Second Team Great Lakes All-Region by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). The D3hoops.com players were nominated by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools. The National Association of Basketball Coaches recognizes the best men's collegiate basketball student-athletes and coaches in the division.

Dempsey led the Ohio Athletic Conference and ranked second nationally in Division III averaging 30.6 points per game. He also averaged 5.3 rebounds and a career-best 4.2 assists per contest. He set career-high marks for total points in a season (764), three-point field goals made (77), free throws made (195), free throws attempted (235), free throw percentage (.830), steals (39), rebounds (132) and assists (104). The OAC recognized Dempsey for his stellar play with First Team All-OAC honors and OAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week accolades. He ended his junior campaign with 2,118 career points, which ranks first all-time at Muskingum and 10th in OAC scoring history.

Dempsey was earlier recognized for his hard work and dedication in the classroom by being named Division III Academic First Team All-America and Team Member of the Year for NCAA Division III Men's Basketball by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He was also named the OAC Scholar-Athlete of the Month for January.
