  • In a special pregame ceremony, Muskingum recognized junior Marcus Dempsey on becoming the all-time leading scorer in program history. Dempsey set the mark on Wednesday against Capital.

  • Dempsey led the Muskies erupting for 42 points while grabbing six rebounds. He finished shooting 13-of-29 (.448) from the floor and went 15-of-17 (.882) from the free-throw line.
  • Junior Alex Masinelli added a career-high 16 points and led the team in rebounding snatching a career-high 14. He went 5-of-9 (.556) from the field and 6-of-6 (100.0) from the charity stripe.

Game Highlights

The Yellow Jackets got off to a 18-10 start within the first six minutes of the game with Dempsey scoring 8 of those 10 for the Muskie side. Muskingum would go on a 9-0 run to take their first lead of the game, 19-18, with 11:48 remaining in the first half. Throughout the rest of the first half, the Muskies and the Yellow Jackets would battle back and forth and trade baskets and leads. Muskingum fought for a 10-point lead, 42-32, to end the first half.

Muskingum continued to hold onto their strong lead within the first six minutes of the second half, then at the 14:31 mark Baldwin Wallace went on a 6-0 run to cut their deficit to four, 49-45. Muskingum brought their lead back to 10 points again, 62-52, with less than eight minutes left in the game and also saw their largest lead of the game at the 4:30 mark, 72-58.

  • The Muskies next travel to Alliance to take on #20 Mount Union in OAC play on Wednesday, February 5. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at the MAAC.
