The Muskingum men's basketball team earned a win at the D3Hoops.com Classic defeating Ramapo on Saturday night, 91-82.

• Junior Marcus Dempsey scored a game-high 35 points to move up to third all-time in Muskingum scoring with 1,623 career points. He passes Rick Brown (1986-90) who scored 1,589 career points.
• The win marks the fourth straight victory for the Muskies.

Inside The Numbers

• Dempsey led the Muskies with a game-high 35 points and dished out a team-high nine assists. He went 10-of-17 (.588) from the field, 4-of-8 (.500) from the three-point line, and 11-of-13 (.846) from the free-throw line.
• Sophomore Trey Singleton added 28 points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds. He hit 9-of-15 (.600) from the floor, 4-of-9 (.444) from downtown, and 6-of-7 (.857) from the charity stripe.
• Junior Tyler Bardall chipped in nine points going 3-of-4 (.750) from behind the arc.
• Jason Battle led Ramapo with 19 points going 7-of-15 (.466) from the field.
• The Muskies ended the night shooting 28-of-48 (.583) from the floor and 13-of-25 (.520) from the three-point line.
• Ramapo finished the game going 32-of-67 (.478) from the field and 4-of-16 (.250) from downtown.
• Muskingum ended the game out-rebounding Ramapo, 38-26.

Game Highlights

Ramapo got off to a fast 12-2 start in the first five minutes of the game, but later witnessed the Muskies take a 22-20 lead off a three-pointer from Dempsey with 6:55 remaining in the first-half. With less than two minutes remaining, the Muskies would build their lead to 39-27 until Ramapo got with-in six points, 39-33, at halftime. 

In the second-half, the closest Ramapo would get to Muskies the rest of the game was four-point 60-56 deficit. The Muskies would continue to hold off scoring spurts from Ramapo but would continue to answer back with runs of their own. In the end, Muskingum would hold on to their lead the rest of the way defeating Ramapo with the final score, 91-82.

• The Muskies next compete in their second game of the D3Hoops.com Classic against Wisconsin-River Falls on Monday, December 30. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. in Las Vegas, Nevada.
