Dempsey named OAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

The Ohio Athletic Conference has announced junior guard Marcus Dempsey as the Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his outstanding performances over the week.

Dempsey helped the lead the Muskies to a 2-0 week of play defeating conference foes Capital and John Carroll. On Wednesday, he led the Muskies with 33 points, added six rebounds, and four assists in a 79-61 victory over the Crusaders. He shot 12-of-20 (.600) from the field and went 8-of-10 (.800) from the free-throw line. 

In a 85-79 win against John Carroll on Saturday, Dempsey scored a game-high 38 points, grabbed five rebounds, and dished out six assists. He went 12-of-22 (.545)  from the field, 6-of-10 (.600) from behind the arc, and went perfect from the charity stripe shooting 8-of-8. During the game, Dempsey moved up to fourth place all-time in Muskingum scoring with 1,561 career points passing Lennie Nelson (1954-58).

In the two games, Dempsey averaged 35.5 points per game, 5.5 rebounds per game, five assists per game, shot 24-of-42 (.571) from the field, made 7-of-14 (.500) from the three-point line, and went 16-of-18 (.889) from the free-throw line.

The Muskies next look to defend home court when they take on Waynesburg on Wednesday, December 18. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. in the Anne C. Steele Center.
