Muskies fall to OAC rival Heidelberg

The Muskingum men's basketball team fell to OAC rival Heidelberg University, 62-56, on Saturday afternoon in the Recreation Center.

The Basics

  • Records: Muskingum (3-5 overall, 0-2 OAC), Heidelberg (4-3 overall, 1-1 OAC)
  • Location: New Concord, Ohio – Recreation Center

First Half

  • The Muskies were led by freshman Jarrell Marsh with seven points and three rebounds.
  • Junior Joshua Keyes also added five points and seven rebounds.
  • Muskingum hit 6-of-26 (.231) from the field.
  • The Student Princes were paced by James Hanley with nine points.
  • Heidelberg connected on 11-of-35 from the floor.
  • Heidelberg took control of the game on a 13-0 run over three minutes to put them ahead of Muskingum 22-9 with 6:20 left in the first half.
  • The Muskies never got within eight points of the Student Princes to trail 30-20 at the half.
 Second Half
  • Senior Cody Seiler and sophomore Jacob Geller notched nine points each.
  • Marsh had eight points and five rebounds.
  • The Muskies made 13-of-33 (.394) from the field.
  • Myron Prewitt led Heidelberg with 10 points.
  • The Student Princes made 12-of-27 (.444) from the floor.
  • Heidelberg held the lead the entire second half, but the Muskies got the score within five points, 49-44, off a jump shot from Geller at the 3:00 mark.
 Post Game
  • Marsh led Muskingum with 15 points and eight rebounds.
  • Seiler and Geller accounted for 11 points each.
  • Keyes grabbed 10 rebounds.
  • Hanley paced Heidelberg with 14 points.
  • Muskingum finished the game shooting .322 (19-of-59) from the field and .680 (17-of-25) from the free throw line.
  • Heidelberg had the advantage shooting .371 (23-of62) from the floor and .800 (12-of-15) from the free throw line.
