Kimble scores 1,000th career point

Muskingum senior Logan Kimble became the 30th Muskie all-time to score 1,000 career points when he connected on the final basket of the game against Heidelberg on Saturday afternoon in the Recreation Center.

Kimble ended the outing with a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds to raise his career point total to 1,000 in 93 career games. He connected on 4-of-7 shots from the field and added four assists, one block and one steal.

Despite Kimble's milestone achievement, Heidelberg handed the Muskies a 93-87 Ohio Athletic Conference loss.

Muskingum now stands at 6-15 overall and 3-11 in the OAC. The Muskies are tied for eighth place in the league with Capital. The top eight teams at the end of the OAC regular season advance to the OAC Tournament. Muskingum next plays at Capital on Wednesday, February 11. Game time is slated for 7:30 p.m.

Muskingum had five players score in double-figures led by junior Cody Seiler who had 19 points and nine rebounds. Seiler also had three blocks.

Junior Christian Keller and sophomore Joshua Glass each scored 16 points, while Kimble and sophomore Joshua Keyes tallied 10 points each. Keyes also registered seven rebounds and three blocks.

The Muskies shot .561 (32-of-57) from the field, which was their second best shooting percentage this season. However, the Muskies were haunted by 23 turnovers that Heidelberg used to create a 35-10 points off of turnovers advantage.

Heidelberg (9-12, 5-9) was paced by five players scoring in double-digits. Marcquice Taylor led the team with a game-high 26 points and four steals. Shane Lee added 16 points and Chris Moxley had 12 points. DeAvery Collins and Kiere Bennie rounded out the 'Berg effort with 11 and 10 points each, respectively.

The Student Princes shot .441 (26-of-59) from the floor and made 41 trips to the free throw line compared to the Muskies' 21.
