Hayden Russell is entering his second season on the Muskie football staff. He will coach the running backs and full backs. 

Before arriving in New Concord, Russell spent three years as a student assistant for the Centre College football program. While at Centre, Russell worked with defensive backs, running backs, and special teams. Prior to the 2021 season, Russell was elevated to outside linebackers coach, as well as the director of player personnel and operations. In his elevated role, Russell’s duties included coaching linebackers, special team operations, conducted initial evaluations on recruits, helped coordinate all on-campus visits, and helped produce all video, equipment, travel, and gameday operations.

While at Centre, Russell coached 10 All-Conference selections and one All-American. Russell also currently works as a scouting assistant for Ourlads Scouting Service.

In Russell's first season in New Concord, he helped lead the Muskies to the program's second straight five-win season. This marked the first time since 1995 and 1996 the program achieved back-to-back five-win seasons.

Russell earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Centre in 2021.
