
Muskingum Football Head Coach Erik Ieuter has announced 13 postseason awards that were presented to 12 student-athletes on the team. Team members voted on the awards.
Sophomore wide receiver Davion Grant was awarded the Bill "Cannonball" Cooper Offensive Player of the Year award. Grant led the team with an outstanding 71 receptions for 1,123 receiving yards, both of which set the single season school record this year. Grant highlighted his year with a dominating performance against the Ohio Northern Polar Bears where he brought in seven receptions for 185 yards along with two touchdowns in a 42-30 win on the road. Grant also added 203 return yards. Grant was also honored as the teams Most Valuable Player this season for his breakout year on the offensive side of the ball.
Junior quarterback Garrett Gurney and senior wide receiver Travanti Keitt were both recognized as the Offensive Back of the Year. Gurney orchestrated the Muskie offense with 1,471 passing yards on a 69.5 completion percentage. He added 12 touchdowns through the air. Gurney stayed mobile throughout the year with 90 rushes for 234 yards. Gurney tacked on seven touchdowns on the ground for the Muskies this year. Keitt was a vital part of the offense this season, recording 818 receiving yards and six touchdowns. Keitt also added a perfect 5-of-5 passing attempts for 92 yards and one touchdown. Keitt tallied 335 return yards and even got involved with 19 rush yards on two attempts.
Junior kicker Aaron Meyers was honored with the Special Teams Player of the Year award. Meyers combined for 49 total points this season for the Muskies. He went a perfect 37-of-37 on extra points and added four field goals with a long of 40-yards to his impressive resume.
Junior offensive lineman Foster Wertz was awarded the Offensive Lineman of the Year and Iron Man Award. Wertz helped guide the Muskie offense with his physical play on the offensive line as the Muskies posted 28.6 points per game and 396.2 yards per game.
Junior linebacker Martavious Johnson was named the Defensive Player of the Year for his involvement in multiple defensive categories. Johnson logged a stellar 88 tackles, 2,5 tackles for loss, and one sack, while also being responsible for forcing three fumbles and grabbing an interception. He also added breaking up two passes.
Senior defensive lineman Toleo Malone was named Defensive Lineman of the Year. This is Malone's second straight Defensive Lineman of the Year award. Malone tallied an impressive 67 total tackles this season with 11 of those being for a loss. He was responsible for one forced fumble and came away with two fumble recoveries. Malone also logged three sacks for twenty yards.
Senior defensive back Qwestin Litz was named the Defensive Back of the Year. Litz locked down the secondary with 55 total tackles with five being for loss. Litz broke up seven passes and brought in one interception throughout the season.
Muskingum's Freshman of the Year award was given to defensive lineman Nathan Thomas. Thomas recorded 22 total tackles in his first year with Muskingum. He also had two tackles for loss, a forced fumble, fumble recovery, and an interception.
Freshman quarterback Daniel Avila and freshman offensive lineman Brandon Rice were recognized as the Offensive Scout Players of the Year.
Senior defensive back JD Schmidt was recognized as the Defensive Scout Player of the Year and earned the Muskie Award honor.
