
The Ohio Athletic Conference has announced that sophomore linebacker Austin Willforth was named Defensive Player of the Week for his stellar performance in Muskingum's 23-7 win against Ohio Northern.
Against the Polar Bears, Willforth tallied 15 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks to lead Muskingum's defense. Muskingum now sits at 4-3 overall with three games left in the regular season. With the win, Muskingum has now defeated Ohio Northern for the second straight year. This marks the first back-to-back victories against the Polar Bears since the 1988 and 1989 seasons. On the year, Willforth has tallied a team-high 72 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and he averages 10.3 tackles per game.
Muskingum will be back in action on Saturday, October 29, when they host 25th-ranked John Carroll at the Bullock Health and Wellness Complex. Kickoff is slated for 1:30 p.m. and the contest will also mark football's Faculty and Staff Appreciation Game.
