Football announces postseason Team Awards

Muskingum Football Head Coach Erik Ieuter has announced 13 postseason awards that were presented to 11 student-athletes on the team. Team members voted on the awards.

Senior quarterback Jordan Garrett was named the Most Valuable Player and Offensive Player of the Year. Garrett, a captain, started all 10 games under center for Muskingum and set school records in passing yards (2,323), passing touchdowns (20), passing attempts (333), passing completions (194), touchdowns in a game (7), and total offense (2,429 yards). Garrett also set numerous single-game records, including total offense in a game (492), passing completions in a game (41), and passing attempts in a game (58).

Junior wide receiver Zuri Edmondson was named the Offensive Back of the Year. Edmondson set the school record for receiving yards in a game with 266, the school record for receptions in a game with 17, and also tied the school mark for touchdown receptions in a game with three against Capital. On the season, Edmondson made 54 receptions for 824 yards and seven touchdowns. Edmondson's 824 receiving yards rank second in program history for a single season. 

Senior offensive lineman TJ Boyd was honored with Offensive Lineman of the Year. Boyd helped the Muskies' offense average 343.9 yards per game and 25.9 points per game.

Freshman linebacker Azarious Williams was named the Defensive Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year. Williams led the team with 70 stops, including 8.5 tackles for loss for 29 yards. He also notched two sacks for 15 yards and forced a pair of fumbles.

Senior defensive back Cortez McGinnis was named the Defensive Back of the Year. This year, McGinnis was recognized on the national level when he was selected to the D3football.com Team of the Week for his standout effort in the Muskies' week one win against Waynesburg. This season, McGinnis, who represented the team as a captain, totaled 50 tackles, two interceptions, 2.5 tackles for a loss, and one fumble recovery for a touchdown.

Freshman defensive lineman Daniel Robinson was named Defensive Lineman of the Year. Robinson led the squad with a team-best three sacks for 16 yards, logged 29 hits, and recovered two fumbles.

Sophomore kicker Collin Scozzafava was recognized as the Special Teams Player of the Year. Scozzafava averaged 41 yards per punt and placed 13 inside the 20. He had a career-best boot of 70 yards at John Carroll.

The Muskie Award was given to senior offensive lineman Iggy Horvath. Horvath, who served as a captain this year, helped anchor the offensive line.

Freshman defensive lineman Toleo Malone was named the Iron Man. Malone ended the year with 30 tackles and three tackles for loss for 14 yards. He also added one fumble recovery and forced one fumble.

Scout Offensive Player of the Year went to freshman wide receiver Nick Morton.

Sophomore defensive lineman Skylar Lucio earned Scout Defensive Player of the Year.
