Esports Recap (9/23 - 9/29)

Esports concluded the week with a 9-7 overall record, while competing in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, League of Legends, Rainbow Six Siege, Madden, Valorant, Rocket League, Fortnite, and Overwatch throughout the week. 

Saturday, September 23

  • Muskingum's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate team fell against the University of Saint Francis on Saturday morning. Muskingum won the first match (1-0) in a best of three setup, before dropping the second match (3-0) and then slipping in the third match (2-0).

Sunday, September 24

  • The Muskingum League of Legends team fell 2-0 (1-0, 1-0) in a close matchup with Concordia University Ann Arbor on Sunday evening. 

Monday, September 25

  • The Rainbow Six Siege red team competed against Farmingdale state on Monday night. The Muskies ended up dropping the match 2-0 (7-5, 7-5) in a best of three series.
  • The Rainbow Six Siege black team earned a forfeit win against Sacred Heart University. 
  • Muskingum Super Smash Bros. Ultimate red team won 2-1 (2-0, 0-4, 1-0), against Husson. 
  • The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate black team dominated against Suny Plattsburgh in a 2-0 (3-0, 1-0) match. 

Tuesday, September 26

  • Muskingum's Valorant team earned a win, 2-0 (14-12, 13-10), over the University if Delaware. 

Wednesday, September 27

  • The Muskie Overwatch team dropped a matchup against Fisher college on Wednesday. Final score ended up being 3-0 (1-2, 2-3, 2-3) in favor of Fisher college.
  • Rocket League slipped in a contest with Columbia, 4-0 (1-4, 0-4, 3-7, 2-4). 

Thursday, September 28

  • The Rainbow Six Siege black team fell in a closely, contested matchup against Illinois, 2-0 (8-6, 7-5). Map one was played on oregon, and map two was played on boarder. 
  • The Rainbow Six Siege red team slipped up against UW-Whitewater, in a 2-0 (8-7, 7-5) contest. Map one was played on oregon, and map two was played on chalet. 
  • Madden had a huge night as Crawford (forfeit), Lawrence (32-7, 28-17), Hively (20-14, 26-3), Adams (42-17, forfeit), and Atkins (42-26, 28-38, 21-0) each earned wins to start the year.
  • Muskingum Fortnite placed 5th place on Thursday night.  

Up Next 

  • Esports will be back in action on Thursday, October 5, when the Rainbow Six Siege black competes against Iowa, and the red team competes against Ohio University (JV).
