Esports comes up short in Rainbow Six Siege National Championship

The Muskingum Esports Rainbow Six Siege team came up short in the ECAC National Championship on Monday night. The Muskies fell 3-1 to Fisher College in the title game. This marks the fourth straight season the Muskies have advanced to the championship contest.

Muskingum got out to a fast start, winning game one 7-4 to grab the early momentum. However, despite the opening round win, Muskingum fell in three straight games to lose the match. Fisher won game two 7-4, game three 7-5, and game four 7-2.

Despite the loss, Muskingum has continued to prove they are a dominate force in Rainbow Six Siege. The team comprised of senior Cameron Strickland, senior Nathan Montecalvo, sophomore Seth Paczan, sophomore Zach Martin, and sophomore Larry Kendall have now advanced to the ECAC National Championship in each of the last four seasons. Muskingum finished the regular season 7-1 overall, earning the number one seed in the ECAC Tournament. Muskingum finishes the season with an overall record of 11-2. Across all games, Muskingum has captured four ECAC National Championships, winning two in Fortnite and two in Madden.

Muskingum will add another trophy to their case on Wednesday, April 26, when Muskie teammates Doug Crawford and Owen Hively face off in the Madden National Championship. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m. Crawford is seeking his third championship, while Hively is looking for his first.
