Baseball drops road doubleheader to Baldwin Wallace

The Muskingum baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader at Baldwin Wallace on Saturday afternoon. The Muskies fell in both games by a combined two runs as the final scores ended with Baldwin Wallace on top 2-1 and 7-6.

The Basics

  • Records: Muskingum (19-9 overall, 5-7 OAC), Baldwin Wallace (17-11 overall, 8-4 OAC)
  • Location: Fisher Field - Berea, Ohio

Inside The Numbers 

Game 1

  • The Muskies scored one run, with 10 hits, and added four walks. 
  • Senior Weston Melick led the offense with three hits.
  • Senior Tobie Teke and freshman Lex Castaneda each tallied two hits to pace the offense.
  • Sophomore Conner Thamann added a hit and a run scored in the contest.
  • Sophomore Benny Hess and junior Jackson Duchesne both had a hit.
  • Duchesne recorded an RBI in the game.
  • Teke stole four bases and Duchesne stole one base.
  • Graduate student Erik Cover pitched all eight innings for the Muskies. Cover struck out two batters in his time while only allowing six hits.

Game 2

  • The Muskies finished with six runs, three hits, two walks, and three RBI's.
  • Junior Mike Davis tallied a hit with two RBI's to lead the Muskie offense.
  • Senior Ryan Schwartz added a hit and a run scored.
  • Sophomore Aiden Reis recorded the last hit for the Muskies and also scored a run in the contest.
  • Junior Sam Palmieri scored twice for Muskingum while junior Joey Eurez and Melick both scored once.
  • Sophomore Gavin Schultz got the start in game two and went five innings with two strikeouts.
  • Junior Max Vosters came in for relief and went 3.2 innings while striking out two batters.

  • The Muskies will return to action on Tuesday, April 15, when they travel to take on Washington & Jefferson at 4:30 p.m.
