The Muskingum baseball team dropped a doubleheader against Mount Union on Senior Day. The Muskies slipped in the opener, 12-3, and dropped game two, 9-6.

• Muskingum recognized seniors Kyle Gannon, Evan Hinds, Marc Ibarra, Nate Mejia, Michael Pagano, and Ben Van Wey for Senior Day.

Mount Union jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning.

In the top of the third inning, the Purple Raiders added two runs to make it 3-0.

Over the next three innings, Mount Union scored four runs, gaining a 7-0 lead.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Muskingum made it 7-2 after senior Michael Pagano singled to center field, driving in two runs.

However, Mount Union maintained control of the game and scored five more runs en route to its game one victory.

Senior Evan Hinds took the loss for Muskingum on the mound. Hinds pitched 6.0 innings and allowed seven runs on 10 hits while striking out three batters. Pitcher Phil Mary earned the win for Mount Union. Mary pitched 9.0 innings and allowed three runs on five hits while notching five strikeouts. 

Pagano led the Muskies at the plate with three hits and two RBIs. Ryan Boyd guided Mount Union with two runs on three hits and two RBIs.

Mount Union took a 3-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning.

Muskingum answered in the bottom of the fifth when freshman Trey Yoder blasted a two-run homer. In the bottom of the sixth, the Muskies tied the game at 3 after freshman Brett Carson scored on a fielder's choice.

In the top of the eighth, the Purple Raiders scored a run to gain a 4-3 edge.

The Muskies responded in the bottom of the eighth when freshman Josh Cole doubled to left field, driving in two runs and granting Muskingum a 5-4 lead.

Mount Union rallied in the top of the ninth inning, scoring five runs to gain a 9-5 cushion. In the bottom of the inning, Muskingum scored after freshman Jake Loudon drove in sophomore Matt Stewart from third base. However, the Purple Raiders were able to subdue the Muskie attack and win their ninth OAC contest.

Freshman Will Maier took the loss for Muskingum. Maier pitched 2.2 innings and allowed six runs on six hits. Colin Skufca secured the win for the Purple Raiders. He allowed two runs on four hits in 2.0 innings of work. 

Yoder led the Muskies at the plate with one run on one hit and two RBIs. Travis Wood guided Mount Union with three hits and two RBIs.
