Baseball erupts for season-high 17 runs en route to sweep

The Muskingum baseball team swept Ohio Christian on Tuesday at Mose Morehead Field. The Muskies won the opener 3-2 in 12 innings and took the nightcap, 17-5.

  • Ohio Christian was paced by Brian Daria who went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
  • Danarius Williams took the loss after going 2.1 innings and allowing seven runs (six earned) on six hits.
  • THe Trailblazers ended the outing with five runs on 15 hits, with six errors.

Game One

  • Freshman Marc Ibarra tied the game in the bottom of the seventh with a two-out RBI single and won the game in the bottom of the 12th with an game-winning RBI single with one out. He ended the contest going 3-for-6 with two RBIs and one run.
  • Leitenberger delivered an RBI single in the first to tie the game at 1-1.
  • Muskingum mustered thee runs on seven hits.
  • The 12 innings game marked Muskingum's longest game of the season.
  • Junior Brandon Bush (1-0) notched the win in relief after firing five innings of no-hit ball. 
  • Sophomore Kyle Schmitgen started the game and went seven innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits, with seven strikeouts.
  • Eric McClure led Ohio Christian going 3-for-6 with two RBIs.
  • Kris Carius was handed the loss after tossing 2.1 innings in relief and allowing one run on one hit.
  • The Trailblazers tallied two runs on five hits.
