Baseball batters Bethany for non-league win

The Muskingum baseball team beat Bethany in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon at Mose Morehead Field, 11-2.

The Muskies scored 11 runs on 12 hits and used a six-run fifth inning to take command of the contest.

Sophomore Austin DeVore, sophomore Joe Shumar, sophomore A.J. Kazmierczak and sophomore Matt Lynn all registered two RBIs. Kazmierczak also scored three runs.

Junior Christian Leitenberger went 3-for-5 with an RBI, double and two runs scored. Sophomore Adam Madias added a 3-for-4 performance with two runs.

Sophomore Dallas Allen earned his second win of the season after firing seven innings of four-hit ball with two runs and a career-high eight strikeouts.

Bethany (5-12) briefly led 2-0 after scoring a pair of runs in the top of the second. The Muskies answered with three runs in the bottom of the second and scored a run in the third and fourth innings. Muskingum tallied six runs in the fifth on three hits.

Ryan Bisi (0-2) was handed the loss after going 2.2 innings and allowing four runs on six hits.

Max Barrios and Adam Becker each had an RBI for the Bison. Bethany committed four errors and hit five Muskie batters on the day.

Muskingum (7-12) next hosts Ohio Athletic Conference rival Marietta on Friday, April 3. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
