Craig Holycross '09 became Muskingum's first ever archery head coach prior to the program's inaugural season in 2020-21.

Holycross guided the Muskies to a highly successful 2022-23 campaign that saw Muskies rank among the best at the Collegiate Northern Outdoor Target Regional hosted by Southeastern Illinois College and at the USA Archery Indoor Nationals held in Harrisburg, Virginia. Following the season, Holycross was honored with Regional Coach of the Year Accolades by USA Archery for his dedication to the sport and for the success his archers have seen both in the classroom and the archery field. The honor marks the second straight year that Holycross has been honored with this prestigious award. Holycross' players have also enjoyed success both on and off the archery field, including having an archer named to the 2023 USA Archery Collegiate Archery Program All-American Academic Team, which was Muskingum's second All-American in program history.

During the 2021-22 campaign, Holycross led the Muskies to three separate Archery events, including the USA Archery Collegiate 3D Nationals in Foley, Ala. Following the season, Holycross was honored with Regional Coach of the Year Accolades by USA Archery for his dedication to the sport and for the success his archers have seen both in the classroom and the archery field. Holycross also advanced to the USA Archery National Coach of the Year ballot as well. Along with his personal accolades, Holycross' players have also enjoyed success both on and off the archery field, including an Academic All-American honoree following the 2021-22 season and coaching a player to the USA Collegiate Archery Program Advisory Council.

Holycross, a certified USA Archery Level 2 instructor and member of the Broken Arrow Archery Club in Newark, Ohio, brings a wealth of archery knowledge and experience to Muskingum. He is a member of the Archery Shooter's Association (ASA), International Bowhunting Organization (IBO), National Field Archery Association (NFAA), and USA Archery. Furthermore, Holycross has served on the shooting staff of America's Best Bowstrings, Black Eagle Arrows, Shrewd Archery, T.R.U. Ball/AXCEL, Brian's Custom Lens, MTN OPS, VaneTec, First Lite, Elevation, and Vance Outdoors.

Muskingum is the only school in the Ohio Athletic Conference to field an archery team and one of the only NCAA schools in the state to offer archery as a varsity sport. Archery, which involves teams representing their institutions at USA Archery-sanctioned events, offers recreational and competitive opportunities for barebow, recurve, compound, and bowhunter divisions.

Holyross graduated from Muskingum in 2009 with a B.A. in history and a minor in business. He was a four-year letterwinner on the men's soccer team and helped lead Muskingum to its first-ever Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament appearance in 2008.
