Volleyball conquers Capital

The Muskingum volleyball team conquered Ohio Athletic Conference foe Capital on Tuesday night, 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-20).

Junior Brooke Scott led the attack for the Muskies with 10 kills. Senior Alexa Abrams added seven kills, while sophomore Katie Hunt and freshman Taylour Fatheree both recorded five kills.

Muskingum's attack was directed by the setting duo of freshman Taylor Mathews and sophomore Kaleigh Hendrix. Mathews had 18 assists and Hendrix added in 12.

The backcourt was under equal protection by freshman libero Deidre Prince, Abrams and Mathews. Prince had 13 digs, while Abrams and Mathews each totaled 12 digs.

Muskingum ended the match with a total of 37 kills, 35 assists and 71 digs.

Courtney McCraken led the Crusaders (8-16, 0-3) with seven kills and 14 digs. Hanna Ewart added seven kills and Katie Weilbacher had 16 assists.

The Muskies (15-9, 1-1 OAC) return to the court at home on Saturday against Heidelberg. Match time is slated for 1:00 p.m.
