Fast start lifts Women's Soccer to fourth straight win

The Muskingum women's soccer team earned their fourth win a row defeating St. Vincent on Friday night, 3-0. 

The Basics

The Breakdown

  • The Muskies got off to a fast start scoring an early goal in the first half from freshman Peyton Phillips in the 12th minute off an assist from sophomore Natalie Woodward making the score, 1-0.
  • Muskingum got their second goal of the night right before halftime on a headed goal by senior Abigail Wagner from a cross by freshman Kaitlin Dawson in the 43rd minute making the halftime score, 2-0.
  • The Muskies got their third and final goal of the night from junior Alyssa Schneider off a free kick from 35 yards out in the 63rd minute that would make the final score, 3-0. The strike was the first of Schneider's career.
  • Leading the Muskie attack was junior Mary Double with eight shots and five of those on goal.
  • Woodward added four shots and one assist for Muskingum.
  • Wagner had three shots and one goal for the Muskie offense.
  • Phillips helped add to the attack with two shots and one goal.
  • Schneider added one shot and one goal for the Muskies.
  • Freshman Bekah Knight and senior Emily Ellyson each also added one shot.
  • Junior Katie Bodenmiller played 45 minutes in frame and made one save on the night.
  • Freshman Paige Stringfellow played the last 45 minutes in goal for the Muskies and also made one save.
  • The Bearcats were led by Hannah Irvine with two shots.
  • Cande Kossel and Lauren May each added one shot for St. Vincent.
  • Bearcat goalkeeper Abigail Johnson played 45 minutes in net and made five saves.
  • Cande Kossel played 45 minutes in frame as well for the Bearcats and she made seven saves.
  • The Muskies ended the game outshooting the Bearcats, 20-4.

  • The Muskies next look to defend home turf as they take on Wooster on Tuesday, October 1. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at the North Athletic Turf Field.
