Women's Soccer eyes strong fall campaign

The Muskingum women's soccer team, under the leadership of enthusiastic veteran Head Coach Mary Beth Caudill, will look to vault towards the upper tier of the Ohio Athletic Conference in 2018. Coach Caudill will have the luxury of 12 returning letterwinners, which includes eight starters, and a top-flight recruiting class, to field a strong team on the pitch.

Leading the team this fall will be sophomore forward Mary Double, junior midfielder Abigail Wagner, sophomore midfielder Ali Gilt, senior defender Rachael Waite, senior defender Emily Wiley, junior defender Julia Prokopchak, sophomore defender Sarah Landis and sophomore goalie Katie Bodenmiller.

Double led the team last season with four goals and two assists. She played in all 18 contests and made 12 starts. Wagner helped control the midfield and ended the year with one goal and two assists. Gilt made her presence felt in the midfield en route to scoring two goals.

Waite, Wiley, Prokopchak and Landis anchored the Muskie backline and helped start the Muskie attack from the back third.

Bodenmiller played in 14 games between the pipes and made eight starts. She ended the campaign with an Ohio Athletic Conference leading 119 saves.

Also adding depth and talent to the Muskie squad will be junior midfielder Elena Kozelek, junior forward Alei Yost, junior midfielder Emily Roberts and sophomore defender Lexi Pyers.

Muskingum opens the year at Ohio Wesleyan on Friday, August 31. The Muskies' home opener is scheduled for Wednesday, September 12, against Waynesburg at the North Athletic Turf Field. Muskingum opens OAC play on Saturday, September 29, against John Carroll.
