Women's Soccer Defends the Turf vs. Earlham

A goal by senior Tori Stuard, in the first half, and by freshman Mary Double, in the second half, propelled the Muskingum women's soccer team to a thrilling 2-1 victory over Earlham on Wednesday evening.

The Basics

How It Happened 

  • Muskingum had a chance to strike in the first 30 seconds of the match, but the goal was called back due to offsides.
  • Earlham took the early 1-0 advantage when their top scorer, Chloe Lamenzo, drilled a shot in the 14th minute of the first half.
  • Stuard tied the game at the 24-minute marker when she scored on a loose ball the Earlham keeper initially saved. Double was credited with the assist.
  • The Muskies took the 2-1 lead with nine minutes remaining in the contest when Double scored the game-winning goal just outside the 18-yard box off an assist from senior Miranda Bishop.
  • Sophomore Jasmine Love played all 90 minutes in the frame and recorded a career-high 11 saves.
  • Muskingum finished the game with 18 shots, including nine shots on goal.
  • Sari Stissi collected seven saves for the Quakers while playing 90 minutes in the goal.

  • Muskingum will continue home play as they host Bethany on Saturday, September 23. The game is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. and will mark Muskingum's Breat Cancer Awareness contest.
