Wiley scores first career goal in season opener

Muskingum freshman Emily Wiley scored her first career goal to lead the Muskies in their season opener at Ohio Christian on Tuesday afternoon. However, despite a 34-18 advantage in shots, Muskingum fell 6-1.

How It Happened

  • The Trailblazers jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the opening nine minutes of play en route to taking a 3-0 lead into the break.
  • The Muskies trimmed thier deficit to 3-1 following Wiley's first career goal in the 61st minute. Wiley's header came off a keeper save from Morgan Price's shot. The assist was the first of the season for Price.
  • Ohio Christian closed out the contest with three unanswered the goals to complete the scoring.
  • Muskingum ended the game with a 34-18 advantage in shots and a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.
  • Hailey Dickey and Tori Stuard led the Muskies with seven shots each, while Hailey Ferguson added five strikes.

Between The Pipes

  • Heather Maxwell started in goal and allowed two goals and made two saves in 20 minutes of action. Izzie Smith played the final 70 minutes and allowed four goals and made five saves.
  • Mekayla Deffenbaugh played all 90 minutes and allowed one goal and made 13 saves.
