Women's Soccer returns from recording-breaking year

The Muskingum University women's soccer team, under the direction of veteran and enthusiastic Head Coach Mary Beth Caudill, returns from a year of great success to kick-off 2015.

The 2014 season was a memorable one for the Muskies as they set several school records. Muskingum tied the school mark for best winning percentage (.556), and set school marks for longest unbeaten streak (7), longest winning streak (6), best non-conference record (7-1-1) and fewest goals allowed (27).

With passion and determination, the Muskies hope to continue their run of record-breaking success in hopes of finishing in the upper tier of the Ohio Athletic Conference.

Muskingum returns 12 letterwinners and seven starters from the 2014 memorable squad. Key players to look out for on the field will be senior captain Hailey Dickey, senior captain Kelsey Overley, junior captain Morgan Price, and sophomore Miranda Bishop.

Dickey, a Third Team Academic All-Ohio honoree, rounded out the offense with two goals. She enters her final campaign ranked eighth all-time in career assists with nine and sits just outside the top 10 all-time in career points with 21.

Overley tallied one goal and two assists before missing the bulk of the season due to an injury.

Price was second on the team for the Muskies with 11 points (3 goals/5 assists). Through her first two years, Price has notched seven goals and eight assists.

Bishop aided the Muskie attack registering one goal and six assists. Her six assists rank seventh all-time for a single season at Muskingum.

Also adding depth to the Muskingum squad will be senior Lauren Hambel, juniors Sarah Landuyt, Jessica Gutierrez and Kenzie Faust and sophomores Lauren McKell, Natalie O'Dell and Stephanie Siwicki.

Hambel and Landuyt will help anchor the backline, while Guiterrez and Faust will aid the attack. McKell, O'Dell and Siwicki return to add numerous options in the final third.

Coach Caudill will also have the luxury of a blue-chip recruiting class to help propel the Muskies.

Muskingum will open its season on September 1 at Ohio Christian. Muskingum's first home action is scheduled for Tuesday, September 8 against Wooster at 7:00 p.m. in McConagha Stadium.
