Muskies fall in Homecoming battle

The Muskingum women's soccer team fell in a cold and wet Homecoming battle against Otterbein on Saturday evening in McConagha Stadium, 2-0.

The Cardinals (8-2-4, 4-0-1) took a 1-0 lead into the break following Alyssa Spencer's goal in the 31st minute. Spencer found the back of the net off a loose ball in the box in front of the goal.

Otterbein completed the scoring in the 68th minute on Jillian Strimbu's shot to the far post.

Muskingum (9-4-1, 2-3) was paced by junior Hailey Dickey who mustered two shots.

Sophomore Samantah Harbert, senior Moriah Mathies, junior Carissa Myler, and junior Summer Setliff all registered one shot each.

Otterbein ended the outing with an 18-6 advantage in shots and held a 7-1 edge on corner kicks.

Liz Mitchell played all 90 minutes in frame for the Muskies and made two saves and allowed two goals.

Dana Strimbu was in frame for Otterbein and made one save en route to the shut out win.

Jillian Strimbu led the Cardinals with five shots and Spencer add four strikes.

Muskingum next hosts Mount Union on Tuesday, October 21. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start in McConagha Stadium.
