Women's soccer slips in OAC play

The Muskingum women's soccer team slipped in its Ohio Athletic Conference opener against Baldwin Wallace on a cold Saturday afternoon in McConagha Stadium, 3-1.

BW scored first after Nicole Boyd took a short ball from Courtney Schutz's corner kick and blasted it from long range in the 8th minute.

Alex Elliot headed in BW's second goal in the 17th minute off of Schutz's corner kick.

Kristen Lee completed the BW scoring in the 48th minute on a shot off of Schutz's corner kick.

Muskingum (7-2-1, 0-1) struck in the 71st minute on junior Hailey Dickey's second goal of the season. The tally was assisted by senior Moriah Mathies, her eighth of the season.

For the game, Baldwin Wallace (5-6-1, 1-0) held a 19-12 advantage in shots and 4-3 edge in corner kicks.

Sophomore Morgan Price led the Muskies with four strikes and Mathies added three.

Schutz led BW with four shots.

Senior Melissa Emmerich started the game and played the opening 47 minutes and allowed three goals and made one save. Sophomore Liz Mitchell played the final 43 minutes and made four saves.

Emily Tallmadge played between the pipes for BW and made three saves and allowed one goal.

Muskingum next hosts Capital on Tuesday, October 7. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in McConagah Stadium.
