School-record winning streak snapped

The Muskingum women's soccer team had its school record six-game winning streak snapped at Oberlin on Wednesday night. The Yeowomen handed the Muskies a 1-0 setback.

The Muskies entered the contest with six straight wins to set the program record for longest winning streak. The loss also ended the Muskies' school record longest unbeaten streak.

The lone tally of the contest came in the 40th minute off the foot of Hannah Cook. The score was aided by a double assist from Kitty O'Neill and Gwennie Gardiner.

The Muskies (6-1-1) ended the outing with 11 shots, which included five shots on frame. Sophomore Morgan Price led the attack with three shots. Seniors Carissa Myler and Moriah Mathies and junior Summer Setliff each registered three shots.

Sophomore keeper Liz Mitchell played the opening 74 minutes and made four saves and allowed one goal. Senior Melissa Emmerich played the final 16 minutes and made one save.

Kate Frost played all 90 minutes between the pipes for Oberlin and recorded five saves.

Oberlin (5-3) mustered 21 shots on the night, with Gardiner leading the squad with five.

Muskingum next travels to Defiance on Sunday, September 28. Game time is slated for 2:00 p.m.
