Late goals sink Muskies

Heidelberg scored two goals in the final 24 minutes to beat Muskingum on a chilly Saturday afternoon, 2-0.

Muskingum now stands at 8-7-2 overall and 1-6 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The Muskies next host Capital on Wednesday, October 30 for Senior Night in McConagha Stadium. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

Heidelberg struck first in the 66th minute on a goal by Christina Neal.

The 'Berg added its final tally in the 84th minute on a strike by Marisa Mowery.

Muskingum had solid scoring opportunities in the opening half. A strike from senior Raven Francis hit the crossbar and post and ricocheted out and a shot by junior Moriah Mathies went wide.

Mathies led the Muskies with two shots, while Francis, freshman Marisa Fluharty, sophomore Hailey Dickey, freshman Stephanie Price and sophomore Summer Setliff all recorded one shot.

Muskingum freshman Liz Mitchell made her first career start between the pipes and allowed two goals and made seven saves.

Molly Schriber notched the shutout in frame after making two saves.

Neal led Heidelberg with six shots.
