Muskies beat Marietta for Coach Caudill's 100th win

The Muskingum women's soccer team beat rival Marietta on Wednesday afternoon, 4-2. The win marked Coach Mary Beth Caudill's 100th career victory.

The Muskies now stand at 8-4-2 overall and 1-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Muskingum next hosts John Carroll University on Saturday, October 19. Game time is slated for 12:00 p.m. in McConagha Stadium.

The victory propelled Coach Caudill, the all-time winningest women's soccer coach at Muskingum, to become just the ninth coach in OAC women's soccer history to achieve the 100-win milestone.

Muskingum took the early 1-0 lead in the 11th minute when junior Moriah Mathies scored from 18-yards out off an assist from freshman Morgan Price. The goal was the seventh of the season for Mathies and the assist was the third of the campaign for Price.

Senior Raven Francis extended the Muskie lead to 2-0 with her sixth goal of the season on a six-yard shot in the 20th minute.

Marietta's Stevie Reilly trimmed the Pioneer gap to 2-1 in the 38th minute.

After the break, Muskingum sophomore Summer Setliff put the Muskies up 3-1 in the 53rd minute on a strike off of a Mathies slotted ball. The goal was the third of the season for Setliff and the assist was the sixth of the year for Mathies.

Sophomore Lauren Hambel completed the Muskie scoring in the 73rd minute off of a direct kick by sophomore Hailey Dickey. The goal was Hambel's first of her career and the assist was Dickey's fifth of the season.

The Pioneers completed the scoring in the 78th minute.

Muskingum ended the game with 18 shots and eight corner kicks.

Mathies now ranks seventh all-time for a single season in points with 20 (7 goals/6 assists).

Francis' goal lifted her career point total to 30 (11 goals/8 assists), which ranks seventh all-time for a tenure.

Junior Melissa Emmerich played the opening 75 minutes in goal and recorded four saves and allowed one goal. Freshman Liz Mitchell played the final 15 minutes in frame and made two saves and allowed one goal.

Kaitlyn Pearse played the entire game between the pipes for the Pioneers and made 10 saves and allowed four goals. Reilly led the Pioneer's attack with two goals on four shots.
