Muskingum remains unbeaten at home

The Muskingum women's soccer team remained unbeaten at home with a hard-fought 1-1 double overtime tie against NCAA Division II Ohio Valley on Saturday evening in McConagha Stadium.

With the tie, Muskingum moves to 5-1-2 overall. The Muskies next travel to Chatham College on Wednesday, September 25. Game time is slated for 5:00 p.m.

Ohio Valley grabbed the early lead in the second minute when Samantha Flynn scored on a loose ball in the box.

Muskingum junior Moriah Mathies scored the equalizer in the 64th minute on a direct kick from the top of the box. The tally was the fifth of the season for Mathies.

Muskingum ended the game with a 20-19 edge in shots and 7-3 advantage in corner kicks. Senor Raven Francis led the Muskie attack with seven shots, while sophomore Summer Setliff added four strikes.

Junior keeper Melissa Emmerich played all 110 minutes between the pipes and recorded five saves and allowed one goal. Muskie sophomore defender Hailey Dickey recorded one team save on a shot destined for the lower 90 in the second half.

Kourtney Breighner played every minute in goal for Ohio Valley and made nine saves, while allowing one goal.
