Summer heats up stadium to lead Muskingum past Point Park

Muskingum University sophomore Summer Setliff scored two goals on rocket shots to propel the women's soccer team to a thrilling 2-1 win against Point Park University in front of a screaming Muskie crowd in McConagha Stadium on Tuesday night.

With the win, Muskingum moves to 3-0 overall. The Muskies next travel to Anderson University on Saturday, September 7. Game time is slated for 3:30 p.m.

Setliff gave Muskingum a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute on a blast to the upper 90 from just outside the box. The shot came off an assist from senior Raven Francis, her second of the season.

Point Park (0-2) answered the Muskie tally in the 65th minute on a goal by Leeza Tokarski. Tokarski led Point Park with five shots, including three on frame.

Setliff notched the game-winning strike and brought the Muskie fans to their feet with her second rocket shot in the 76th minute on a one-time rip to the upper 90 from the top of the box. Senior captain Moriah Mathies played the ball into Setliff for her second assist of the campaign. Setliff and Mathies ended the game with a team-best three shots.

Sophomore keeper Elise Zimmerman played all 90 minutes between the pipes and recorded a career-best 10 saves.

Erica Roney took the loss in goal for Point Park after playing the final 45 minutes and allowing one goal, while registering two saves.
