Women’s Lacrosse slips in OAC opener against Baldwin Wallace

The Muskingum women's lacrosse team slipped in its Ohio Athletic Conference opener against Baldwin Wallace on Saturday afternoon, 18-7. The game marked both teams' first OAC contest.

 The Basics

  • Records: Muskingum (3-5 Overall, 0-1 OAC), Baldwin Wallace (3-6 Overall, 1-0 OAC)
  • Location: North Athletic Turf Field – New Concord, Ohio 

How it Happened

  • Baldwin Wallace led 3-1 at the end of the opening quarter.
  • Carrying their momentum into the second period, Baldwin Wallace used a 4-1 second quarter to take a 7-2 lead into halftime.
  • Muskingum outscored Baldwin Wallace 5-4 in the third quarter to cut its deficit, 11-7 heading into the final period.
  • Baldwin Wallace outscored the muskies 7-0 in the final period to secure the win.

Inside the Numbers

  • Muskingum finished the outing with 22 shots and 22 ground balls. The Muskies also caused 10 turnovers.
  • Muskingum was led by sophomore Riley Hudock who tallied two goals and had four draw controls.
  • Junior Hannah Heyboer, sophomore Haley Clifton, sophomore Megan Lang, freshman Maria Decaminada, and sophomore Riley Zwagerman each added on goal apiece to pace the Muskingum offense.
  • Freshman Kyleigh Dahlgren notched 10 saves and secured seven ground balls in the net for Muskingum.
  • Sophomore Kennedy Norch finished with four draw controls and two ground balls, while sophomore Milayna Williams also picked up four ground balls and had a team-high three caused turnovers. 
  • Kaitlyn Hradek led the Yellow Jacket offense with six goals. 
  • Baldwin Wallace goalkeeper Caroline Potteiger notched eight saves.
