Adams erupts for five goals in women's lacrosse debut

Freshman Ashley Adams led the Muskingum women's lacrosse team in its inaugural game on Wednesday against Waynesburg in McConagha Stadium. Although Adams scored five goals and had one assist, the Yellow Jackets rallied in the second half to hand the Muskies a stinging 14-11 loss.

The contest, which marked the first-ever lacrosse game played on Muskingum's campus, kept the stadium energized throughout the outing.

Adams' five-goal performance came off of 11 shots. Freshman Katie Megery added three goals on 13 shots and senior Brianna Bonacci had three goals on six shots. The Muskies peppered the Franciscan goal with 39 shots.

Muskie freshman Samantha Abrahamsen recorded three saves in goal, while allowing 14 strikes.

Franciscan was paced by Jess Rains who had four goals on five shots. Makayla Vidosh had three goals on five shots. The Yellow Jackets tallied 24 shots.

In frame, Johanna Phillips made 17 saves and allowed 11 goals.

Following a strong first-half of play, the Muskies took an 8-4 lead into the break.

Waynesburg responded in the second half with a 10-goal outburst to steal the victory from Muskingum's grasp.

Muskingum next plays at Transylvania on Tuesday, March 10. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
