Women's Bowling Claims 2024 Collegiate Club National Championship

The Muskingum women's bowling team claimed the 2024 Collegiate Club National Championship after beating Ohio State in the final round. This was the first National Championship in program history at the Club Collegiate Championships.

How It Happened

  • The Muskies earned a first-round bye to advance to round two in the tournament.
  • In their first matchup with an opponent, the Muskies bested Grand Canyon University to advance to round five against Alma. 
  • In their contest against Alma, the higher-seeded Muskies saw no problems and cruised to advance to the eighth round.
  • In the eighth round, the Muskies were facing a Purdue team that was on a Cinderella run through the tournament. Purdue had beaten the first-seeded Coe College early in the bracket and a higher-ranked University of Wisconsin Madison. This was a Cinderella run that was cut short by the Muskies, who once again saw no problem as they advanced to the ninth round. 
  • In the ninth round, Muskingum faced off against an Ohio State team that had been battle-tested through the contender's bracket. Ohio State took the first game against the Muskies but couldn't win twice.
  • The Muskies claimed the 2024 Collegiate Club National Championship after beating Ohio State in the final round of the bracket. This is the first Collegiate Club National Championship in women's bowling program history.

Notables

  • Senior Kaylee Hauck finished her tournament run on the All-Tournament Team. For her play in the Muskies' historic National Championship run, she earned Most Valuable Player of the All-Tournament Team honors. Hauck was also honored as a 2024 First Team All-American.
  • Freshman Tayler Clark earned the 2024 Rookie of the Year award for her performance throughout the tournament. Clark was also honored as a Second Team All-American.
  • Junior Kelsey Wilson was honored as a Second Team All-American.
  • Head Coach Doug Smith earned a nomination for the 2024 Women's Coach of the Year.
