Women's Basketball suffered a heartbreaking loss in the final seconds of its first Ohio Athletic Conference game this season, as a last-second three-point shot to tie the game just missed.

The Basics

  • Records: Muskingum (3-3, 0-1), Baldwin Wallace (4-2, 1-0)
  • Location: Steele Center - New Concord, Ohio
  • Attendance: 157

How It Happened

  • The Muskies trailed by 11 points early in the first quarter but used a balanced attack to claw back to a two-point game by the end of the quarter
  • Muskingum took their first lead of the game with 5:40 to go in the second quarter on a Taylor DeMassimo three-point shot.
  • Muskingum and Baldwin Wallace would go back-and-forth and end the first half at a four-point game, with Baldwin Wallace leading.
  • In the third quarter, both teams continued to trade baskets resulting in a one-point Muskie lead.
  • With 6:45 to go in the fourth quarter, the Yellow Jackets and Muskies would be tied at 49 points each.
  • Both teams would lock in defensively, resulting in Muskingum giving up only six points, and Baldwin Wallace only allowing two points in the last 6:45 of the fourth quarter.
  • The Muskies had the chance to tie the game or take the lead with 11 seconds left in the game, but a Claudia Harrington layup fell off the rim and into the hands of Baldwin Wallace's Caely Ressler.
  • Muskingum would foul Ressler and send her to the line where she would make only one-of-two free throws.
  • With seconds left on the clock, Halle Morehead would dribble up the floor and get a deep three-point shot up to tie the game. The shot would ultimately fall just short and bounce off the front of the rim.
