Women's Basketball Defeat Battling Bishops at Home

The Women's Basketball team defeated the Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops in a close game, pulling out the victory 77-71. Junior Caitlyn DeMassimo and Sophomore Claudia Harrington led the Muskies in the thrilling contest.

  • Sophomore Claudia Harrington tallied a career high, 23 points, in the contest. 
  • Both men's and women's games were promoted as a Hoops for Hunger doubleheader. Fans gained free admission with any canned food, non-perishable item, or monetary donations. 
  • The game was a faculty, staff, and family appreciation game.
  • Greek Life held pie a faculty member during both halftime of the games.

  • Muskingum shot 25-of-44 (56.8%) from the field, 10-of-20 (50%) from beyond the arc, and 17-of-20 (85%) from the free throw line.
  • The Muskies combined for 33 rebounds, 14 assists, eight steals, two blocks, and 25 turnovers.
  • Junior Caitlyn DeMassimo recorded a double-double with 27 points on 8-of-13 (61.5%) shooting and 12 rebounds. She also snagged one steal and one block. 
  • Sophomore Claudia Harrington scored a career high 23 points on 9-of-12 (75%) shooting, while grabbing six rebounds and three assists. 
  • Sophomore Tori Jones scored 13 points on 5-of-8 (62.5%) shooting, including 3-of-5 (60%) from three point range.
  • Junior Halle Morehead and Senior Taylor DeMassimo each scored six points.
  • Sophomore Lizzy Allen had four assists, and two rebounds. 
  • Ohio Wesleyan shot 26-of-69 (37.7%) from the field, 2-of-19 (10.5%) from behind the arc, and 17-of-26 (65.4%) from the free-throw line.
  • Ohio Wesleyan recorded 34 rebounds, nine assists, nine steals, two blocks, and 11 turnovers as a team.
  • Ohio Wesleyan was led by Kasey Schipfer who scored 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

  • Muskingum will be back at home on Saturday, December 2, when they will host the Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets in their Ohio Athletic Conference opener. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m. in the Steele Center.
