Caitlyn DeMassimo named OAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

The Ohio Athletic Conference has named sophomore forward Caitlyn DeMassimo the OAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week, sponsored by Midstream Lighting, for her efforts in leading Muskingum to thrilling victories over Capital and Otterbein last week.

DeMassimo averaged 14 points and 6.5 rebounds en route to guiding the Muskies to an undefeated week.

On Wednesday night, DeMassimo led the Muskies with a team-high 19 points on 50% shooting from the field, while also grabbing a team-high six rebounds in Muskingum's physical 63-60 win over Capital.

DeMassimo followed her solid performance on Wednesday with another standout effort in the Muskies' 61-57 come-from-behind win against Otterbein on Saturday. The Muskies trailed by 18 points midway through the third quarter and used a 24-8 surge in the final frame to erase the Cardinal lead and secure the OAC road win. The win marked Muskingum's first victory over Otterbein since the 2017-18 season. DeMassimo finished with a team-high seven rebounds and added nine points.

DeMassimo ranks second in the OAC in free-throw percentage with a mark of 36-of-41 (87.8) from the charity stripe, while also ranking seventh in rebounds per game averaging 6.6.

This season, DeMassimo is averaging 11.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.6 steals, and 1.4 assists.

Currently, on a two-game win streak, the Muskies hit the road on Wednesday, February 1, when they travel to clash with OAC rival Marietta at 7:00 p.m.
