The Muskingum women's basketball team slipped against John Carroll on Saturday, 81-52.

Notables

  • Junior Camay Baylock guided the Muskies with a double-double. 
  • Baylock tallied a team-high 14 points and notched 11 rebounds. Baylock ended the game shooting 5-of-10 (50.0%) from the field and 3-of-5 (60.0%) from the free-throw line.

  • Muskingum ended the contest shooting 18-of-64 (28.1%) from the field, which included hitting 5-of-24 (20.8%) from behind the arc.
  • Sophomore Olivia Lang registered nine points and tallied two steals. 
  • Freshman Casey Smith recorded eight points and amassed two blocks.
  • Junior Emily Yeager locked in a team-high four steals. 
  • John Carroll ended the contest shooting 31-of-69 (44.9%) in the field and 16-of-29 (55.2%) from the free-throw line.
  • Nicole Heffington guided the Blue Streaks with a game-best 18 points, shooting 6-of-9 (66.7%) from the field and 4-of-8 (50.0%) at the free-throw line. 
  • Olivia Nagy chipped in a double-double. She registered 15 points and tallied 15 rebounds. 

Game Highlights

In the first quarter, the Muskies tallied back-to-back three-pointers to jump out to an early 6-0 lead. John Carroll retaliated with six straight points to tie up play at 6-6. The contest remained tight with Nagy drilling a long ball to give the Blue Streaks a three-point edge going into the second quarter (13-10). The Muskies and Blue Streaks traded baskets until John Carroll tallied a 7-0 run to slide past the Muskies with a score of 27-18. John Carroll collected two straight free-throws to expand the gap to 34-22. Muskingum fought back and managed to trim the Blue Streak lead to 35-28 going into the break. John Carroll came out hot and tallied a 20-5 run in the third quarter and rode that momentum to the 81-52 triumph over the Muskies.
