Second-half woes sink Muskies

Baldwin Wallace used a strong second half to sting the Muskies 70-53 in Ohio Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon at the Anne C. Steele Center.

Hoops for Hunger

  • Muskingum's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee hosted a Hoops for Hunger Food Drive during the Muskie basketball doubleheader against Baldwin Wallace and collected more than 1,100 canned good items. All food and monetary contributions will be donated to the College Drive Presbyterian Church Food Pantry in New Concord.

  • Muskingum finished with two players in double figures.
  • Junior Stephanie Clark led the way for Muskingum tying a career-high 10 points and pulling down eight rebounds.
  • Sophomore Dana Parkman chipped in a season-high 11 points, while junior Alexandra Carson added eight points and five rebounds.
  • Muskingum ended the affair shooting 21-for-60 (.350) from the field and 9-for-14 (.643) from the free throw line.
  • Baldwin Wallace was led by Riley Schill with a game-high 16 points.
  • Mackenzie Colombo finished with 11 points for the Yellow Jackets.
  • The Yellow Jackets shot 21-for-65 (.323) from the field and 19-for-27 (.704) from the free throw line.

Inside the Numbers

  • The Muskies outscored Baldwin Wallace 11-4 in the first period led by Parkman and Clark with four points each.
  • Muskingum extended its lead early in the second period as they opened with a 5-0 run to take the 16-4 advantage.
  • At the 7:31 mark in the second period Muskingum took its largest lead of the half, 19-6 following a free throw from freshman Josie Payton.
  • Muskingum held the 30-22 lead at the break.
  • Carson gave Muskies its largest lead of the contest 36-22 with 7:20 remaining in the third.
  • Baldwin Wallace chipped away at the Muskie advantage, taking the lead for good 43-42 with 1:39 remaining in the period.
  • The Yellow Jackets outscored Muskingum 23-11 in the final period to capture the victory.
