Muskies OAC Tournament bound

The Muskingum women's basketball team will enter the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament as the No. 7 seed and play at No. 6 seed Mount Union on Monday night at 7:30 p.m.

The Muskies lost their regular-season finale at Baldwin Wallace on Saturday, 87-51.

The loss set up the third meeting of the year between Muskingum and Mount Union. The Muskies won the last affair in New Concord on February 12, 62-55. The Purple Raiders held court in Alliance on January 22 beating the Muskies, 83-61.

The first round tournament game will feature live stats, audio and video accessible through the Muskie athletic web site. The winner of the contest advances to the second round on Tuesday, February 25 at No. 3 seed Ohio Northern.

Freshman Jasmine Goings led the Muskies at Baldwin Wallace with 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Senior Gabbi Davis added 11 points and five rebounds.

Muskingum (7-17, 5-13) ended the game shooting .321 (17-of-53) from the floor.

Baldwin Wallace (20-5, 15-3) was led by Shari Mangas who scored 14 points.

The Yellow Jackets, who clinched a share of the OAC regular season title, shot .439 (25-of-57) from the field and held a 45-22 edge in bench points.
