Senior Day celebration

Muskingum delivered a big Senior Day victory against Heidelberg on Saturday afternoon in the Rec Center, 75-67.

The win elevated the Muskies (7-15, 5-11) into a a tie for six place in the Ohio Athletic Conference with Mount Union. The top eight teams at the end of the regular season advance to the OAC Tournament. The Muskie next travel to Capital on Wednesday, February 19. Game time is slated for 7:30 p.m. 

Prior to the game, Muskingum recognized seniors Tori Jarrett, Gabbi Davis, Meghan Billick and Alexys Settles.

Billick led the team with 13 points and eight rebounds. Jarrett and Settles each added 10 points and Davis chipped in six points. Jarrett also added seven boards, while Settles notched five rebounds.

Freshman Jasmine Goings rounded out the Muskie effort with 12 points and six rebounds.

Muskingum ended the game shooting .404 (21-of-52) from the floor. The Muskies held a 43-35 edge in rebounds and outscored Heidelberg 24-12 in points in the paint.

Heidelberg (11-12, 4-12) was led by Kathleen Phillips' game-high 33 points. Paige Ricketts added nine points and five boards.

The Student Princes shot .328 (19-of-58) from the field.

The Muskies used a late surge in the first half to take a 32-25 lead into the break.

The physical second half saw Heidelberg tie the game at 48-48 with 10 minutes to play on a basket by Ricketts.

Muskingum took the lead for good on a pair of free throws by Jarrett at the 8:37 mark.

The Muskies then ballooned their lead to 63-54 on a basket by Settles.

Heidelberg answered with back-to-back three-point shots by Phillips, but Muskingum tallied the next four points to regain the momentum en route to the Senior Day emotional win.
