Muskingum Softball sweeps Wilmington

The Muskingum softball team swept Wilmington on Sunday afternoon. Game one was decided in extra innings as the Muskies would walk off in the bottom of the eighth to secure the win 8-7. Game two ended in the fifth inning as the Muskies shut out the Quakers 8-0.

Inside The Numbers

Game one

  • The game went into extra innings (Eight innings).
  • The Muskies finished with eight runs, 11 hits, and seven RBIs.
  • Sophomore Sadie Smith led the Muskies as she went 2-for-4 from the plate. Smith finished with three runs, two RBIs, a stolen base, and a homerun.
  • Senior Kalie Eshelman hit an efficient 2-for-3 with two runs.
  • Sophomore Cara Taylor heated up the Muskie bats as she went 2-for-4 from the plate with two doubles. Taylor also posted two RBIs, a run, and walked.
  • Freshman Kenzie Standerfer had an RBI double to tie the bottom of the eighth inning. Standerfer also added a run.
  • Freshman Eliana Shaheen recorded a run, SAC bunt, and a walk.
  • Senior Rosie Hayes finished with one hit and a SAC RBI.
  • Senior Madelyn Thomas and freshman Bethany Rodman each stepped into the pitching circle. Thomas tallied two strikeouts, while Rodman finished with five.

Game Two

  • The Muskies finished with eight runs, eight hits, and three RBIs
  • Cara Taylor was electric as she went 3-for-3, with three runs, two stolen bases, a double, and an RBI.
  • Senior Rosie Hayes aided the Muskies with two runs.
  • Senior Kalie Eshelman hit 2-for-3. Eshelman added a double, a run and RBI to the stat book.
  • Sophomore Sadie Smith finished with a hit, a run, and a stolen base.
  • Freshman Kenzie Standerfer went 1-for-2 with a run and was walked once.
  • Freshman Tareyn Born pitched all five innings for the Muskies. Born only allowed three hits and added two strikeouts.
