Five Muskies highlight All-OAC selections for Softball

The Ohio Athletic Conference has named senior shortstop Claire Guilliams and senior designated player Haley Hawk First Team All-OAC, while freshman outfielder Cara Taylor, senior infielder Sarah Piteo, and senior pitcher Hannah Smith earned Honorable Mention All-OAC accolades. 

Guilliams collected her second All-OAC selection after finishing with a .355 batting average and a career-best 38 hits. Guilliams capped off her senior campaign with five doubles and notched career-highs in runs scored (37), home runs (4) and stolen bases (6). 

Hawk captured her fourth All-OAC honor after finishing with a .330 batting average and a team-best five home runs. She also tallied 38 hits, three doubles, and 23 RBIs on the year. 

A first time All-OAC honoree,Taylor made an immediate impact for the Muskies in her freshman campaign. Taylor led the Muskies at the plate with a team-best .397 batting average. She also led the team in hits (50), RBIs (25), triples (4), and finished tied for first on the team in doubles with nine.

Piteo earned her first All-OAC accolade after she finished with a .365 batting average, which was third-best on team. Piteo also finished with a career-best 35 hits, six doubles, two home runs, and 22 RBIs. 

Smith earned her fourth All-OAC honor after posting a team-best and career-low 2.17 ERA. This season, Smith tallied a team-best and conference second in wins (16) and strikeouts (132) and held opposing batters to a .219 batting average. Additionally, earlier in the season, she was named along with four other Ohio Athletic Conference softball student-athletes to the 2023 Tucci/NFCA Player and Pitcher of the Year watchlist.
