Softball honored with six All-OAC selections

The Muskingum softball team was honored by the Ohio Athletic Conference on Friday morning when the league announced that six Muskies were names All-OAC.

Sophomore Melissa Maiorano, sophomore Amy Clark and junior Jessica Matthews were all named First Team All-OAC, while senior Kelly Martin, senior Fallon Gawry and freshman Rachel Eberling were all named Second Team All-OAC.

Maiorano leads the Muskies with a .380 batting average. She has a team-best 31 runs scored and had belted 12 doubles. Maiorano is second on the squad with 46 hits and four home runs. She has 23 RBIs on the season and has a team-high 10 walks.

Clark is second on the team with a .370 batting average. She has a team-high 47 hits, 37 RBIs and six home runs. Clark has ripped 11 doubles and and scored 17 runs. Clark has walked nine times on the campaign. This marks the second straight year that Clark has been recognized with First Team All-OAC accolades.

Matthews has a .311 batting average with 26 RBIs. On the season, she has 37 hits with 26 RBIs, 18 runs scored, five doubles and four home runs.

Martin carries a .400 batting average with 20 hits and 10 RBIs. She has scored 12 runs, and hammered three triples, three doubles and two home runs. Martin is a perfect 6-for-6 in stolen bases. This is Martin's second straight season she has been honored with all-league honors (First Team All-OAC 2015).

Gawry sports a .258 batting average with 14 RBIs. She has registered 24 hits, four doubles, two triples and one home run. This is the second consecutive year that Gawry has earned all-conferernce recognition (Second Team All-OAC 2015).

Eberling leads the Muskie pitching staff with eight wins and a 2.39 ERA. She has fired a team-high 114 innings and recorded two shutouts. Eberling has notched a team-best 49 strikeouts and is holding hitters to a .259 batting average.
