Makowski shatters shot put school record as Men's Indoor T&F dominates Muskie Meet #4

Senior Tristan Makowski shattered the school record in shot put to propel the men's indoor track & field team at the Muskie Meet #4.

Notables

  • Senior Tristan Makowski set the school record in shot put with a mark of 16.01 meters. Makowski broke his previous record of 15.74 meters that he set earlier in the season at Muskie Meet #3.

The Basics

  • Location: Bullock Health and Wellness Complex – New Concord, Ohio
  • Muskingum scored 159 points as a team to finish first and win the meet.

On the Track

  • The 4x200-meter relay team of freshman Thomas Christman, freshman Cooper Bell, junior Cameron Scott, and junior Doudley Jaboin placed first with a time of 1:40.30.
  • Junior Colton Whyte snagged a first place finish in the 200-meter with a time of 22.97.
  • Freshman James Jackson placed first in the 400-meter with an impressive time of 53.22. Juniors Doudley Jaboin and Cameron Scott were close behind with times of 54.04 and 54.18 respectively. Freshman Kohen Cox rounded out the Muskies 400-meter onslaught with a time of 54.27 
  • Sophomore Ryan Irwin locked in a second place finish in the 60-meter Hurdles with a time of 8.56. Freshman Cooper Bell was close behind with a fourth place finish with a time of 9.36.
  • Sophomore Trey Gastrich grabbed a fourth place finish in the 60-meter with a time of 7.38.
  • Freshman Sean Murdock logged a fourth place finish in the 800-meter with a time of 2:08.53.
  • Freshman Blake Miller earned a fifth place finish in the 3000-meter with a time of 9:42.57.

In the Field

  • Senior Tristan Makowski set the school record in the shot put with a mark of 16.01 meters. This mark broke the previous school record of 15.74 meters that Makowski set only three weeks ago.
  • Freshman Daven Gibson secured a first place finish in the high jump after hitting a mark of 1.95 meters. Freshman Thomas Christman and freshman Cooper Bell rounded out the Muskies in the high jump with Christman finishing in third at a mark of 1.85 meters, and Bell grabbing fifth with a mark of 1.75 meters.
  • Christman also brought in a second place finish in the long jump with a mark of 6.24 meters.
  • Junior Colton Whyte and sophomore Noah Mitchell finished second and third in the triple jump with marks of 12.93 meters and 12.60 meters, respectively.
  • Freshman Gabe Lavender placed second in the pole vault with a mark of 3.20 meters. Freshman Broderick Baumbusch finished close behind with a mark of 2.59 meters to finish third.

Up Next

  • Muskingum will be back in action when they compete at the OAC Championships. The Championships are set to take place in the Bullock Health and Wellness Complex at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, February 23, and 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 24.
