Gibson ties school record in HJ to help lead Men's Indoor T&F to first-place finish at Muskie Meet #2

Freshman Daven Gibson tied the school record in the high jump to help lead Muskingum's indoor track & field team to a first-place finish at Muskie Meet #2.

Notables

  • Freshman Daven Gibson tied the High Jump school record of 6-8.75. The mark ranks second in Division III and tied the school record held by Trevon Sawyer (2013).

The Basics

  • Location: Bullock Health and Wellness Complex – New Concord, Ohio
  • Muskingum scored 121.5 points as a team to finish first in the 10-team field.

On the Track

  • Junior Colton Whyte won the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.29. 
  • The 4000-meter DMR team of freshman Sean Murdock, freshman James Jackson, sophomore Korey Kakascik, and junior Shane Funk finished with a time of 12:09.99 to earn eight points for the Muskies.
  • Sophomore Korey Kakascik earned third place in the 500-meter run with a time of 1:16.91.
  • Junior Shane Funk and sophomore Parker Graf finished the 1 mile run with third and fifth-place finishes. Funk logged a time of 5:09.71 and Graf got 5:38.74.
  • Junior Cameron Scott notched a third-place finish in the 400-meter run with a time of 54.20. Freshman Kohen Cox rounded out the 400-meter run with a fifth-place finish at a time of 54.64.
  • Freshman James Jackson secured a fifth-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:15.09.
  • Freshman Sean Murdock grabbed a fifth-place finish in the 1000-meter run with a time of 2:56.13.
  • Freshman Cooper Bell snagged a sixth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.13.

In the Field

  • Freshman Daven Gibson tied the school record and finished first in the High Jump with a 6-8.75 leap. 
  • Senior Tristan Makowski won the shot put with a throw of 15.11 meters. Makowski also snagged a fourth-place finish in the weight throw with a 14.55-meter throw.
  • Freshman Cooper Bell placed third in the high jump with a 1.80-meter jump, while freshman Thomas Christman rounded out the high jump in a tie for fourth place at 1.75 meters.
  • Junior Colton Whyte notched a second-place finish in the long jump with a 6.30-meter jump. Sophomore Trey Gastrich followed that up with a third-place long jump finish of 6.29-meters. Freshman Thomas Christman rounded out the scoring in the long jump with a sixth-place jump of 6.02 meters.
  • Sophomore Noah Mitchell recorded a triple jump mark of 12.31 meters, which earned a third-place finish. 
  • Freshman William Jackson and sophomore Lane Smith earned fourth and sixth-place finishes in the shot put, with Jackson recording a 12.11-meter throw and Smith notching a 12.00-meter throw.
