Men's tennis drops season-opening matches

The Muskingum men's tennis team lost its season-opening matches against Defiance and Thomas More on Saturday.

The Muskies opened play at Defiance and fell 9-0. Freshman Trayton McHale provided the squad with its best opportunity for a win in a hard-fought 6-2, 7-5 setback at fifth singles against Sean Deley.

Muskingum then played Thomas More at Defiance and slipped 8-1. Junior Andrew Alexander delivered a thrilling 3-6, 6-2, 10-3 win at sixth singles against Joseph Gil. 

Junior Ben Winland suffered a tough three-set loss against Will Neltner at fourth singles. Winland fell 2-6, 6-4, 8-10.

Muskingum next hosts Ohio Athletic Conference foe John Carroll on Saturday, March 21. Game time is slated for 1:00 p.m.
