The Muskingum men's soccer team dropped a physical battle to St. Francis on Wednesday evening, 1-0.

How it Happened

  • The first half saw the cougars apply offensive pressure and produce many scoring opportunities but key saves from freshman goalkeeper Evan Laraba kept the contest scoreless going into the break.
  • St. Francis held a 10-5 edge in first-half shots over the Muskies.
  • St. Francis broke the scoreless contest in the 65th minute off a goal from Alessandro Florencia.

Inside the Numbers

  • Senior Edwin Palou and Junior Mahfuz Yakubu led the Muskie attack with two shots apiece.
  • Junior Ryan Watson, junior Morgan McKenna, and senior Hunter Foley rounded out the Muskie scoring effort with one shot apiece.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Evan Laraba racked up a season-high 10 saves in 90 minutes of work in goal. 
  • Alessandro Florencia led the Cougar offense with one goal.
  • St. Francis goalkeeper Joe Deitering grabbed five saves in goal.
