Men's soccer notches big road win

The Muskingum men's soccer team battled through the scorching heat and a tough Bulldog squad to secure a big 1-0 road win at Adrian on Sunday afternoon.

The Basics

How It Happened

  • Muskingum sophomore Trent Newby scored the game-winning goal in the 56th minute on a blast to the near post from inside the box. The tally was the first of the season for Newby. He ended the outing with five shots, including four on frame.
  • Muskie freshman Gage Toy aided the attack with three strikes, including one on frame.
  • Muskingum junior Zach Schumauch, freshman Alex Furst and junior Kyle Baker all logged one shot.
  • Muskingum ended the outing with 11 shots.
  • Brandon Katona led the Bulldogs with seven shots and Shayan Shustari added six. Adrian ended the game with 31 shots.
  • Adrian held a 12-3 edge in corner kicks.

Between The Pipes

  • Freshman Gabriel Kral secured his first career shutout win by making nine saves in 90 minutes of work in frame.
  • Lino Taormina played the entire game in goal and made six saves and allowed one goal.
