Men's soccer beats Mount Union

The Muskingum men's soccer team beat Mount Union on Wednesday night in Alliance, 2-1.

The victory marked the first Ohio Athletic Conference win of Head Coach Chris Limle's tenure at Muskingum.

The Muskies (5-11, 1-5) struck first in the 13th minute on sophomore Antonio Meehan's third goal of the season. The strike was assisted by sophomore Christopher Heine.

Mount Union (7-8, 1-5) tied the contest in the 59th minute on a goal by Mitchell Tiah that was assisted by Jesse Tinney.

Muskingum sophomore Quenan Martin scored the game-winning goal in the 69th minute. The tally was the second of the season for Martin.

The Muskies ended the outing with 11 shots, which included 10 on frame. Martin, sophomore Nick Koch and senior David Gebhardt led the team with two shots each. Junior Brett Hanna, Heine, junior Logan Lazar, sophomore Kyle Baker and Meehan each registered one shot.

Senior keeper Eric Riley played all 90 minutes in goal and made four saves and allowed one goal.

The Purple Raiders ended the game with 13 shots. Jack Weber and Tiah each had four shots to pace Mount Union. Dylan Lias allowed two goals in frame and made eight saves.

Muskingum next hosts Ohio Northern on Saturday, October 25 in McConagha Stadium. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
