Capital scores late to sink Muskies

Capital scored the game's lone goal in the 88th minute to hand Muskingum a 1-0 setback in Ohio Athletic Conference play on Wednesday afternoon.

R.G. Florey booted the game-winning strike on a direct kick from outside the box to the top left corner of the goal. The shot was set up following a foul on the Muskies.

Calvin Saunders led the Crusaders (7-4, 2-0) with six shots and Cheyn Roux added five. Capital ended the contest with 20 shots and five corner kicks.

Freshman Trent Newby led the Muskies with two shots, while junior Brett Hanna, freshman Michael Koelbl and sophomore Antonio Meehan all had one shot.

Senior Eric Riley played between the pipes and made eight saves and allowed one tally.

Justin Niswonger recorded three saves in frame for the Crusaders.

Muskingum (4-8, 0-2) next hosts Heidelberg on Saturday, October 11. The game is slated for a 1:30 p.m. start in McConagha Stadium.
